“Slender Man” Already Causing Controversy

For those who don’t know, Slender Man is sort of based on real life events.  Slender Man was created in 2009 as part of a Photoshop contest.  However, the myth of the Slender Man grew out of control leading to a horrible murder attempt between teenagers.

Bill Weir, the father of the Slender Man victim, had the following to say about the film:

“It’s absurd they want to make a movie like this.  It’s popularizing a tragedy, is what it’s doing. I’m not surprised, but in my opinion it’s extremely distasteful. All we’re doing is extending the pain all three of these families have gone through.

What do you guys think?  Is the film in bad taste?
