Forbes: Why Universal is marketing “The Mummy” as horror?

Forbes has released an interesting article which explains why The Mummy is being marketed as a horror-genre film over the obvious action/adventure it is.  The answer – money!

However, please take the time to read the article as it lists some very interesting points. For example, identifying The Mummy as horror separates it from the packed 2017 action/adventure genre that already features Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Wonder Woman, Pirates of the Carib…you get the point.  In this way, Universal could top the charts by having the “biggest horror” film of the year; and therefore, not have the film be quickly forgotten as past action/adventure horror films such as World War Z.
